Behind The Hits - Michael Hutchence: INXS launches on LiSTNR to commemorate 25th anniversary of Hutchence's death

Band members reveal for the first time their secret bond and how Michael's passing changed their lives forever.

On 22 November 1997, the world lost one of the most charismatic performers of all time when INXS front man Michael Hutchence passed away in mysterious circumstances. On the 25th anniversary of his death, LiSTNR launches the Behind the Hits - Michael Hutchence: INXS podcast special to celebrate Hutchence's life and one of Australia's most successful, influential, and enduring musical exports in INXS.

In a new podcast series written by LiSTNR Music Feature Writer Cameron Adams, listeners can hear for the first time about the private pact that bonded INXS together, and the secret masterplan that almost changed rock history.

INXS band members, Andrew Farriss, Kirk Pengilly and Jon Farriss, talk openly about the impact of Hutchence's passing and INXS's influence in the quarter of a century since his death, and if we will ever see INXS live again.

The podcast series reveals never-before-told plans for a singer to replace Hutchence, while Kirk Pengilly reveals what Hutchence told him in a dream. INXS drummer Jon Farriss tells why he had to hire security guards after Hutchence's death, and Andrew Farriss responds to cynicism over the band's revolving door of singers.

The podcast also features Australian music royalty including Jimmy Barnes, Jon Stevens, Suze DeMarchi, Vance Joy, Peter Garrett, and Daniel Johns, and legendary video producer Richard Lowenstein along with uber producer Mark Opitz, who talk openly about the legacy of INXS and the impact of Australia's most loved rock star, Michael Hutchence.

SCA Music Content Director - Audio on Demand and Digital Radio, Adam Williscroft, said: "This is a compelling story of life, loss and legacy from a band of brothers. We felt it was the right time to tell it on the 25th anniversary of the passing of Michael Hutchence. Intimate access to INXS band members and those that lived this story makes this a real, raw, retrospective and extremely relevant listen."
