Freeport Road work begins April 15

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that weather permitting, construction on Freeport Road in Ogle and Whiteside counties will begin Monday, April 15. Work will replace two culverts: south of Pilgrim Road in Whiteside County and north of Pilgrim Road in Ogle County.

Freeport Road will be closed to traffic during construction and detours will be posted. The $2.5 million project is scheduled to be completed in July.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
