Minister Nguyen Chi Dung meets with US-ASEAN Business Council delegation
(MPI) - Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung briefed his guest on the socio-economic situation, priorities and development goals of Vietnam to seek new investment projects, and pledged to support the US firms in doing business in the country while meeting a business delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) in Hanoi on March 21.

Highlighting the comprehensive and fruitful relations between Vietnam and the US, Minister Dung expressed his delight at the US business's outlook to Vietnam's socio-economic growth, contributing to the country's development, job creation, competitiveness improvement and implementation of set goals.

He also thanked the USABC for acting as a bridge to connect business community with the Government, introduce Vietnam's potentials, advantages and needs and encourage the US businesses to invest in the country.

At the meeting, representatives of US enterprises such as Meta, Apaex, Visa, Coca-cola, and Aes spoke highly of the business and investment climate of Vietnam. They expressed their intention of investing in some major sectors such as digital economy, digital transformation, bank, healthcare, education, logistics, energy and investment funds.

US enterprises also hoped to receive further support of the Government of Vietnam and the Ministry of Planning and Investment, stating their commitments to expand operations and help Vietnam to promote economic growth, energy transition towards low carbon and green, sustainable development goals, and engage in the global supply chain.

Ted Osius, USABC President and CEO, and a former US Ambassador to Vietnam, said US firms strongly believe in Vietnam's growth prospects and always want to seek business and investment cooperation opportunities in the country. Vietnam has become one of largest trade partners of the US and received various large US enterprises, showing their strong commitments to take part in Vietnam's growth.

The MPI minister lauded business plans of US enterprises, and said that shared information at the meeting are in line with Vietnam's new growth model such as digital, green, circular and knowledge economy.

This means that US firms not only invest but also accompany the Government of Vietnam in transforming growth models, materialising sustainable, inclusive and harmonious development goals associated with Vietnam's vision and condition.

Vietnam has gained important achievements during Doi Moi process, affirming the country's increasing prestige and position in the region and the world. The minister said, the world has witnessed complicated, unpredictable, and unprecedented developments and challenges, but Vietnam is still steadfast in "reform and innovative path", pursue prosperous economy, sustainable environment and equal society towards sustainable and inclusive development, implement set goals to 2030, with a vision to 2045, and reach commitment of net-zero emissions by 2050./.
