HMRC – Online Trade Tariff User Research

Please see below the invite received from the Research Team:

Online Trade Tariff service: Invitation to engage in user research and feedback sessions

The Online Trade Tariff team will be working on improving the Online Trade Tariff service in 2024. We would like to invite traders and users of the service to provide insights and feedback on the work we do.

What will the research be about?
During 2024, we will be gathering feedback on different aspects of our work. Example of sessions we'll be running are:
• Discovery interviews: Where we learn more about your specific trade processes, how you use the Online Trade Tariffs and your general feedback on the service we provide
• Design/Prototype reviews: We will be building prototypes of new features and improvements to the service. In these sessions, we'll ask you to click through prototypes, giving us your feedback. We use these to 'test the ground' so we're keen to get your thoughts at this stage.
• Workshops: We also plan to run workshops, where we gather wider views of our work.
Please note that all sessions will be run in confidence. Any feedback you provide will be anonymised when shared beyond the session.

How will the sessions be run?
• In general, we will be running remote Teams sessions.
• Except for the workshops, the sessions will be 1-2-1 with yourself (you're welcome to bring a colleague with you as well)
• Attending from the Online Trade Tariff team will be a User researcher and usually also an Interaction designer
• The sessions will take place at a time that's comfortable for you and will take no longer than 1 hour. We will work around your availability.

How to register your interest
If you're interested in working with us, please contact the Online Trade Tariffs User researcher: [email protected].

We will reach out to you when we're planning new sessions to see if you're available.
• Registering your interest is non-commital. When we contact you we will explain what the research is about, and based on that you can decide if you want to take part in that specific session or not.
• If at any point, you change your mind and do not want to take part in our research, you can just let us know and we'll remove you from the list.
We greatly appreciate the time traders and Online Trade Tariff users have spent with us so far, and we hope we can continue to work closely together in the new year.

We hope to see you soon in one of our sessions.
