Selkirk RCMP investigate serious collision

On March 18, 2024, at approximately 2:00 pm, Selkirk RCMP were on patrol when they came across a two-vehicle collision in the northbound lane on Main Street in Selkirk. One vehicle had three occupants and the second vehicle had a driver and lone occupant from the RM of St. Andrews.

Investigation determined the vehicle with three occupants pulled out of a parking lot onto Main Street, colliding with a northbound vehicle travelling on the roadway. The 86-year-old male front seat passenger of the one vehicle was the only one injured, and the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. He was transported to Winnipeg hospital while the 82-year-old female driver and 54-year-old male backseat passenger, as well as the 17-year-old male driver of the other vehicle were all checked and didn't require further treatment.

On March 21, 2024, Selkirk RCMP were informed the 86-year-old male from Whitemouth had died. An autopsy has yet to be completed. However, indications are that the male died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The investigation continues.
