City suspending water irrigation meter service through winter storm

The City of Galveston is temporarily suspending water service to residential irrigation meters in preparation of the winter storm. This is done remotely through the new AMI meter system and only includes irrigation meters (sprinkler systems), not household water supply.

This is being implemented as a preemptive measure to preserve the City's water supply in the event of leaks in the system. Additionally, this allows our crews to prioritize addressing leaks that develop within the distribution system.

Irrigation services will be brought back online once we are through the winter storm. In the event domestic services mislabeled as irrigation are terminated, residents should contact Public Works at 409-797-3630 and we will restore the services ASAP.
