PT Timah Tbk Donates Aid for Home Improvement for People Affected by the Tornado Disaster in Manggar District

EAST BELITUNG - PT Timah Tbk helped repair houses for residents affected by the hurricane disaster in Manggar District which occurred on Friday (23/9/2022).

The tornado damaged six houses in three villages, namely Lalang Village, Lalang Jaya Village and Mekar Jaya Village in Manggar District.

PT Timah Tbk gave 100 pieces of zinc to 6 houses of affected residents including Asmi, a resident of Mekar Jaya village, Sura, a resident of Mekar Jaya village, Bimasakti Wahyu Pakaya, a resident of Lalang village, Fauzi, a resident of Lalang Jaya village, Suharli, a resident of Lalang village and Sunardi, a resident of Mekar Jaya.

One of the recipients of Asmi's assistance, a resident of Mekar Jaya Village, expressed his gratitude and gratitude to PT Timah Tbk for the zinc assistance.

Because, after the incident, the roof of his house only uses a tarp.

"Thank you very much to PT Timah Tbk for the assistance," said Asmi while being moved and crying when she received the aid.

Asmi said the roof of his house was badly damaged, namely in the kitchen and bathroom. So the help of PT Timah Tbk was really needed by him.

"All the roofs of my house collapsed, only the walls were left, fortunately at that time there were no victims," ??he explained.

Similarly, a resident of Mekar Jaya, Sunardi, also thanked PT Timah Tbk for the assistance.

This is because the assistance provided by PT Timah Tbk is very much in line with the current need to repair houses.

"Thank God, thank you, the zinc is enough to repair the house, so it's just a matter of looking for wood later, because the wood and the roof collapsed," said Sunardi.

Meanwhile, Mekar Jaya Village Head Syamsudin appreciated PT Timah Tbk's assistance to their villagers who were affected by the tornado.

"On behalf of Mekar Jaya Village, we are very grateful to PT Timah Tbk," he said.

Manggar sub-district head, Abdul Rachim, also chimed in that awareness of collectivity in disaster management has grown between local governments, state-owned enterprises and non-governmental organizations.

According to him, this collaboration makes disaster management in East Belitung look more effective and efficient and remains targeted when SOEs, especially PT Timah Tbk are very active in distributing aid to communities affected by disasters.
