The Deltek Specification Solutions team closed out 2022 by deploying the MasterSpec® 2022 Q4 update that included 98 Sections containing selective or full revisions to technical content. MasterSpec quarterly updates are also automatically available in Specpoint with no need for any downloads to keep your specifications up-to-date.

Timeline for Publishing MasterSpec in Microsoft Word Format

  • MasterSpec via Microsoft Word format will continue to receive updates at least through Q2 2023.
  • MasterSpec Q2 2023 Word files will be available for download until at least December 29, 2023.

What's New in the MasterSpec Q4 2022 Update

The final release of the year contains eight new Sections to the MasterSpec library including:

  • 018113.73 Sustainable Design Requirements - CALGreen Tier 2: Section specifies requirements and procedures for CALGreen Tier 2 certification, including all mandatory and Tier 2 measures.
  • 081674 Sliding Composite-Framed Glass Doors: Section specifies stock, factory-glazed, exterior, sliding glass doors framed using wood-based cellulosic-composite materials. Section also specifies fixed (inoperable) transoms and sidelites held within the door frame and commonly available options for glazing, hardware, insect screens, and accessories.
  • 085450 Composite Windows: Section specifies stock, factory-glazed casement, awning, single-hung, horizontal-sliding, and fixed windows with cellulosic-composite frames and sashes intended for use in the exterior building envelope. Section also specifies commonly available options for glazing, hardware, insect screens, and accessories.
  • 099654 Elastomeric Coatings (MPI Standards): Section specifies MPI-approved, high-build, waterborne elastomeric coatings for use on exterior concrete, masonry, and stucco surfaces.
  • 210500 Common Work Results for Fire Suppression: Section combines content formerly included in individual Sections 210513 Common Motor Requirements for Fire Suppression Equipment, 210517 Sleeves and Sleeve Seals for Fire-Suppression Piping, and 210518 Escutcheons for Fire-Suppression Piping. Sections were combined for improved editing capability.
  • 220500 Common Work Results for Plumbing: Section combines content formerly included in individual Sections 220513 Common Motor Requirements for Plumbing Equipment, 220516 Expansion Fittings and Loops for Plumbing Piping, 220517 Sleeves and Sleeve Seals for Plumbing Piping, 220518 Escutcheons for Plumbing Piping, and 220519 Meters and Gauges for Plumbing Piping. Sections were combined for improved editing capability.
  • 230500 Common Work Results for HVAC: Section combines content formerly included in individual Sections 230513 Common Motor Requirements for HVAC Equipment, 230516 Expansion Fittings and Loops for HVAC Piping, 230517 Sleeves and Sleeve Seals for HVAC Piping, 230518 Escutcheons for HVAC Piping, and 230519 Meters and Gauges for HVAC Piping. Sections were combined for improved editing capability.
  • 265000 Lighting: Section specifies factory-fabricated luminaires, associated equipment, and accessories for interior and exterior, general, supplemental, and task lighting applications.

MasterSpec Q4 2022 Technical Updates

The following MasterSpec Sections have received full technical revision:

  • 075216 Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) Modified Bituminous Membrane Roofing: Section revisions include consolidation of roofing system product type descriptions, addition of terminology to identify options in roofing system description and desired installation method in Part 2, and elimination of redundant terminology used within roofing system installation method descriptions in Part 3.
  • 093013 Ceramic Tiling: Section revisions include incorporation of new and updated technical standards, removal of retired LEED 2009 (all systems) language, addition of product use classification based on flooring slip resistance, and addition of stain- and chemical-resistant tiling systems, including schedule guide in Part 3.
  • 099653 Elastomeric Coatings: Section now specifies non-MPI-approved elastomeric coatings.

Revisions to the following Div. 10 Sections include added fire-performance and smoke-development performance requirements as well as structural performance requirements for panels with panel-mounted grab bars, shower seats, and accessible benches:

  • 102116.13 Metal Shower and Dressing Compartments
  • 102116.14 Stainless-Steel Shower and Dressing Compartments
  • 102116.17 Phenolic-Core Shower and Dressing Compartments
  • 102116.19 Plastic Shower and Dressing Compartments

Revisions to the following two Div. 22 Sections include updated product types and manufacturers:

  • 221519 General-Service Packaged Air Compressors and Receivers
  • 224723 Remote Water Coolers

Revisions to the following two Div. 23 Sections include added clarification on the use of Steel Tank Institute design standards, revised or updated product types, and updated manufacturer lists:

  • 231313 Facility Underground Fuel-Oil Storage Tanks
  • 231323 Facility Aboveground Fuel-Oil Storage Tanks

Discontinued in MasterSpec Effective with Q4 Update

The following Sections are discontinued, and their content moved elsewhere when appropriate:

  • 093500 Chemical-Resistant Tiling (content incorporated into Section 093013 Ceramic Tiling)
  • 101700 Telephone Specialties (content withdrawn from MasterSpec library)
  • 210513 Common Motor Requirements for Fire Suppression Equipment (content incorporated into new Section 210500 Common Work Results for Fire Suppression)
  • 210517 Sleeves and Sleeve Seals for Fire-Suppression Piping (content incorporated into new Section 210500 Common Work Results for Fire Suppression)
  • 210518 Escutcheons for Fire-Suppression Piping (content incorporated into new Section 210500 Common Work Results for Fire Suppression)
  • 220513 Common Motor Requirements for Plumbing Equipment (content incorporated into new Section 220500 Common Work Results for Plumbing)

The following discontinued Lighting Sections are being replaced by new Section 265000 Lighting. Content from these Sections has been merged and reorganized to permit specifying as many lighting products as possible, organized only as necessary in accordance with regulatory requirements, without the need to create separate product types for individual light sources, shapes, sizes, applications, and locations:

  • 265113 Incandescent Interior Lighting
  • 265116 Fluorescent Interior Lighting
  • 265119 LED Interior Lighting
  • 265123 HID Interior Lighting
  • 265617 Fluorescent Exterior Lighting
  • 265619 LED Exterior Lighting

In addition to technical content updates, all Sections in this release have received nontechnical content revisions for improved functionality and editing capability in Specpoint.
