McCollum Statement on Passage of Rule Advancing National Security Supplemental

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, released the following statement today after the U.S. House votedon a bipartisan basis to advance a package of foreign aid bills:

"Since the U.S. Senate passed President Biden's security supplemental request over two months ago, I have called for Speaker Johnson to bring it to the floor of the House of Representatives for a vote. Today, the House took the first procedural step towards passing this critically important legislation.

"I voted for the rule that will tomorrow provide for a full debate on and final passage of the security supplemental. These votes will not come a moment too soon because the situation in Ukraine is dire. Vladimir Putin continues to kill Ukrainian civilians on a daily basis, and the Ukrainian military is in desperate need of military assistance from the United States. Finally, tomorrow, the House will act."
