Kentucky American Water Proudly Recognizes American Water Charitable F...

The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., recently announced that two organizations in Kentucky were awarded a Water and Environment grant, supporting communities served by Kentucky American Water.

"We're delighted to recognize these worthwhile nonprofit organizations in Kentucky who are working hard to make our Commonwealth an even better place to live, work and play, and
we're grateful that the American Water Charitable Foundation has included their projects in this
year's Water and Environment Grant funding," said Kathryn Nash, president of Kentucky American Water.

The Water and Environment Grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation's Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. Below is a list of the Kentucky grantees:

  • Community Ventures Corporation will receive a $40,000 grant to support a splashpad and fountain in the City of Millersburg to support the community's town square revitalization effort.

  • Lexington-Fayette Urban County Greenspace Trust will receive a $9,150 grant for the Cane Run, Coldstream Park Greenspace Enhancement Program for the expansion of native plantings, educational activities and events at Coldstream Greenway in Lexington.

"Healthy communities provide public spaces where residents can gather and connect," said Community Ventures CEO Kevin Smith. "We are proud to partner with the City of Millersburg to assist them in revitalizing the Millersburg town square and park, and we are grateful to American Water Charitable Foundation for awarding this grant to help make that happen."

"Ensuring we have green spaces easily accessible for recreation, exercise and just getting back to nature is essential for our community's health and wellbeing," said Ken Cooke, Lexington Greenspace Trust volunteer. "We appreciate the funding from the American Water Foundation to help us not only expand, but also maintain these critical resources."

Carrie Williams, president, American Water Charitable Foundation, adds, "The American Water Charitable Foundation is delighted to partner with eligible nonprofit organizations in Kentucky. Funding for Water and Environment Grants is allocated towards projects focused on clean water, conservation, environmental education, climate variability, and water-based recreation."
