WWU faculty, students, alumni partner with Bellingham TheatreWorks on 'WORKING: The Musical' at Options High School

WWU alumni, faculty and students are partnering with the Options High School drama department and Bellingham TheatreWorks to present "WORKING: A Musical." Based on the 1974 book by Studs Terkel, "WORKING: A Musical" explores the lives and stories of six people and their relationship with the working life. It was adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso and includes music from Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mary Rodgers and Susan Birkenhead, Stephen Schwartz and James Taylor.

WWU faculty Mark Kuntz and Pam Kuntz, students Doran Danielson, Layne Fry, Riley Gregg, Skyler Alvarez, Tyler Garver, Autumn Hahn, Addy Ebrahimy and WWU alumni Akilah Williams, Dallas Milholland, Johncen Oxales, Lilian Furlong, Steve Barnes, and Zacharee Simms are all working with Options students to bring the play to the stage.

Options High School is the Bellingham School District's alternative high school. Bellingham TheatreWorks, founded in 2014 by Steve Lyons and Mark Kuntz, is a nonprofit that brings high-quality theater that grapples with social issues and Pacific Northwest subjects. Bellingham TheatreWorks frequently partners with community organizations to create productions that have strong community involvement.

"WORKING: A Musical" performances will be Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. on March 21, 22, 28, 29, 30 at Options High School Theatre, 2015 Franklin St., in Bellingham.
