Mayoral Proclamation - Fair Housing Month

April 11, 2024 marks the 56th Anniversary of the passage of the U.S. Fair Housing Law, a national policy of fair housing without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status or disabilities and encourages fair housing opportunities for all citizens.

WHEREAS, April 11, 2024 marks the 56th Anniversary of the passage of the U.S. Fair Housing Law, a national policy of fair housing without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status or disabilities and encourages fair housing opportunities for all citizens; and

WHEREAS, High Plains Fair Housing Center is engaged in pursuing its mission to eliminate housing discrimination in North Dakota; and

WHEREAS, The City of Fargo supports a concerted effort toward the elimination of discrimination in housing so all citizens will have the opportunity to live in safe and affordable housing; and

WHEREAS, April is traditionally designated as Fair Housing Month by the president of the United States and by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Dr. Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of The City of Fargo, North Dakota do hereby proclaim April 2024 as

FAIR HOUSING MONTH

in the City of Fargo and urge all citizens to honor and abide by the letter and spirit of the U.S. Fair Housing Law.
