This year, Marquette is working with a community partner, The Salvation Army, during move-out to allow students to sustainably donate items. Students are encouraged to use the bins in the lobby of each residence hall. The Salvation Army will accept most gently used items and will do regular pickups during move-out week. Please see the full list for more details on the items that will be accepted.
For students in off-campus housing, look for communication from University Apartments about where donated items for the Salvation Army can be dropped off.
Each year during move-out the university generates a significant amount of waste that ends up in our landfills. Plan ahead this year when you are cleaning out and leverage the bins that will be available to help re-purpose items. Your donations to the Salvation Army help provide individuals and families with basic needs. The Salvation Army runs five family stores in the greater Milwaukee area that will put donated items to use.
All items should be in good condition and free of major tears, stains and smells.
The Food Recovery Network is hosting Move Out for Hunger, a food collection located in the residence halls during finals week and move out.
Help reduce food waste and support the Backpack Program by donating any unopened, non-perishable food items you no longer need as you move out for the summer.
Bins will be located in the lobbies of each residence hall during finals week for the Move Out for Hunger program.
All items will go directly to support the Backpack Program, Marquette's on-campus student food pantry.
