Manchin Statement on the Passing of Senator Joe Lieberman

Charleston, WV - Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following statement on the passing of former U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman.

"I always had the deepest admiration and respect for Senator Joe Lieberman and I was proud to call him my colleague and dear friend. Senator Lieberman always put our country first by working across the aisle to enact sensible, bipartisan solutions, including the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. He was a courageous, principled and compassionate leader who worked every day for the American people, no matter party or politics. Senator Lieberman was always willing to say and do what's right and I am so thankful for Senator Lieberman's decades of public service. Gayle and I are praying for his wife Hadassah and the rest of his family and friends as we mourn the passing of this true American leader."
