Mesquite hosts 18th Addressing Mesquite Day

Mesquite, TX - Oct. 4, 2022 - On Saturday, Oct. 1, more than 600 volunteers came together throughout Mesquite to complete 70 home projects for residents in need. Addressing Mesquite Day (AMD) happens every year and focuses on home repairs needed by senior citizens, single parents, military veterans, the disabled and other homeowners in Mesquite. Local businesses also provided $40,000 in monetary and in-kind donations to assist with the event.

During the volunteer rally to kick off the day, Mayor Daniel Alemán, Jr. said, "Today, we are proud to continue the tradition of helping those in need. Addressing Mesquite Day has changed the lives of more than a thousand homeowners and their families over 18 years. Partnerships make us stronger because we are all better together, for a better Mesquite."

A special thank you to this year's generous sponsors who assisted in making this year's event possible, especially our Platinum Level sponsors The HOME Depot Foundation and Atmos Energy.

AMD began in 2005 as a partnership between the Mesquite Ministerial Alliance, local high schools, churches, nonprofits, the corporate community, civic clubs, and the City of Mesquite, as a one-day opportunity to offer a workday for volunteers wanting to give back to the community.
