Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, delivered her New Year address to the diplomatic and consular corps in Monaco on 24 January, in the Salle Belle Époque at the Hotel Hermitage.

"Your role is vital in building, developing and strengthening the relationships based on trust and friendship that exist between our countries," Ms Berro-Amadeï emphasised at the start of her address.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation took advantage of this friendly occasion to welcome the 15 new foreign consuls who have been accredited in the Principality over the last three years, bringing the number of States represented by an active consulate in Monaco to 84.

In her speech, Ms Berro-Amadeï noted that 2023 marked the thirtieth anniversary of the Principality's accession to the United Nations, "a commemoration that will emphasise Monaco's commitment to and faith in multilateralism." She went on to stress Monaco's openness to the world: "More than a proactive policy, it is a part of the country's national identity."
