Romania: The study visit of Montenegro AFCOS to DLAF – Romanian AFCOS, 23-25 April 2024

In the context of strengthening Montenegro's AFCOS position and considering the candidacy of this state to the European Union, the Fight Against Fraud Department - DLAF Romania receives in the period 23 - 25 April the study visit of the Department for Combating Irregularities and Fraud - AFCOS Montenegro delegation. The Montenegrin delegation is led by Ms Nataša Kovačević, Head of the Department for Combating Irregularities and Fraud - AFCOS Montenegro.

The discussions of this meeting will be opened by the Head of DLAF, Secretary of State, Mr. Bogdan Ionuț DINȚOI. Furthermore, during the visit, the representatives of the Legal Affairs Department, the Control Directorate and the Information Management Directorate will participate as lecturers.

The event aims to provide expertise on the anti-fraud legislation, DLAF's modus operandi for on-the-spot checks carried out in cooperation with OLAF and its cooperation with EPPO.

The study visit takes place at the request of Montenegro AFCOS, based on a TAIEX project in the field of the protection of the EU's financial interests and it represents an important step towards enhancing the bilateral relations by exchanging best practices and experiences in the fight against fraud affecting the European Union budget.

Background

The Fight Against Fraud Department - DLAF is the national contact institution of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) within the European Commission and Anti-Fraud Co-ordination Service (AFCOS) in Romania. In the exercise of its powers, the Fight Against Fraud Department - DLAF performs or coordinates control actions in order to identify irregularities, fraud and other illicit activities, in connection with the management, obtaining and use of European funds and related co-financing, as well as any other funds falling within the financial interests of the European Union.
