Traffic Switch Next Week at Bridge Replacement Project on Route 772 (W. High Street) in Manheim Borough, Lancaster County

Signals allow alternating directions of traffic to travel through the work zone

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today there will be a traffic switch next week at a bridge replacement project on Route 772 (West High Street) in Manheim Borough, Lancaster County. The bridge spans Rife Run between Meadow Lane and South Snyder Street in the borough. The bridge currently is restricted to a single lane on the bridge with temporary signals providing traffic control.

Weather permitting, on Monday, March 18, the contractor will switch traffic from one side of the bridge to the newly constructed side. While this transition is being completed, the signals will be placed in flash mode and flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. This could cause longer delays.

Once traffic is switched, signals will return to full activation to allow alternating directions of traffic to cross the bridge. The contractor will then work on the closed side of the bridge.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

During the final phase of the project, there will be short-term lane restrictions under flagging for final paving and line painting. All work is expected to be completed by August 14, 2024.

This project consists of the replacement of the bridge, minor approach work and other miscellaneous construction.
