Now Open: U-Haul Repurposing the Former Canadian Tire in Grand Prairie

Creating 600 rentable self-storage lockers is part of U-Haul Company's Adaptive Reuse plan for the property

GRAND PRAIRIE, Alta. (April 29, 2024) - U-Haul^® has acquired the former Canadian Tire^® facility at 11311 99 St. and is now serving customers with moving, storage and retail products.

The 7.1-acre commercial property, now home to U-Haul Moving & Storage of Grand Prairie, was purchased on April 8. It is the first U-Haul-owned and -operated facility in Grand Prairie. It is conveniently located near Northwestern Polytechnic's campus and residential neighborhoods for easy customer access.

The property is currently open from 9 a.m.-5p.m. Monday-Sunday. Hours will be extended in the future. Make reservations on the U-Haul app or call the Grand Prairie store at (587) 771-0740.

Once renovations are completed, U-Haul customers will have access to over 600 indoor, climate-controlled self-storage lockers equipped with high-end security features at an affordable price.

Customers currently have access to on-site and remote storage with U-Box portable containers as well as moving trucks, trailers, boxes, moving supplies and more. Professional hitch installation will soon be available. Cresey aims to offer propane in the future to ensure U-Haul of Grand Prairie is a full-service store.

Acquisition of the former Canadian Tire property was driven by U-Haul Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. The adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-building materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
