Deadline for 2025 health care coverage fast approaching

IBX urges consumers to sign up for health insurance as Open Enrollment nears a close.

Independence Blue Cross (IBX) encourages consumers to enroll in a health plan by January 15, 2025, to secure health care coverage starting on February 1, 2025.

Anyone in Pennsylvania who does not have health care coverage through an employer or a government program, may be able to enroll in a health plan for themselves and their families through the Pennie exchange or directly on ibx.com. IBX reminds consumers that this is the final deadline to sign up for a health plan for 2025 without a qualifying life event, like getting married or having a baby.

"Health insurance is a vital part of building healthier futures for our community. By enrolling in a health plan, individuals and families can rest assured they'll have access to quality health care and support for their well-being throughout the year. There's still time; secure your health and peace of mind for 2025 today," said Koleen Cavanaugh, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at IBX.

Affordability and Tax Credit Availability

Individual and family health plans are available to Pennsylvanians who are not eligible for health care coverage through an employer or government program. Depending on income, age, and household size, consumers may qualify for expanded premium tax credits to lower their monthly premiums for 2025.

IBX recommends that consumers visit ibx.com/calculator to determine if they are eligible for financial assistance to lower their monthly health plan premium. The final determination of premium tax credit eligibility will be made by Pennie.
