Dokholyan to give spring 2021 Dean’s Lecture

Dr. Nikolay Dokholyan, G. Thomas Passananti Professor, Department of Pharmacology, will present the Spring 2021 Dean's Lecture.

Nikolay Dokholyan, PhD, MS, will present the Spring 2021 Penn State College of Medicine Dean's Lecture, speaking on 'Molecular Engineering in Translational Research.' The lecture will be presented virtually via Zoom from noon to 1 p.m. May 11 and will also be recorded for later viewing.

Dr. Dokholyan received his PhD in Physics in 1999 at Boston University, and he completed postdoctoral training at Harvard University in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology as an NIH NRSA Fellow.

Dokholyan joined the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine as an assistant professor in 2002, and he was promoted to full professor in 2011. Dokholyan has served as the Director of the Center for Computational and Systems Biology and the Graduate Director of the Program in Molecular and Cellular Biophysics at UNC.

Dokholyan has published more than 280 peer-reviewed articles and 21 book chapters. In 2014, he was named the Michael Hooker Distinguished Professor.

In 2018, Dokholyan moved to Penn State College of Medicine and assumed the position of the G. Thomas Passananti Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Pharmacology and the Director of the Center for Translational Systems Research.

Dokholyan was elected to be a fellow of the American Physical Society (2012) and American Association for Advancements in Science (2019).
