Overnight Full Closures Scheduled On March 25 & 26, 2024, From 8:00 P.M. Through 4:00 A.M. - Detour Required

San Joaquin County - Caltrans will perform two consecutive nights of 8-hour full highway closures for the safety of workers and motorists for testing operations of the State Route 4 Old River Bridge, located at the San Joaquin/Contra Costa County line, east of Discovery Bay. This testing is required as completion nears for the on-going bridge preventative maintenance and rehabilitation project that will make necessary upgrades and repairs of the Old River Bridge,

Overnight closures will occur beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, until 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, and from 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, until 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. During these closures, the following detour will be required;

State Route 4 Detour Information:

  • Westbound SR-4 travelers: The detour begins at the Tracy Boulevard intersection; south on Tracy Blvd; west on I-205; north on Mountain House Parkway; northwest on Byron Road to SR-4.
  • Eastbound SR-4 travelers: The detour begins at the Byron Road intersection; southeast on Byron Road; south on Mountain House Parkway; east on I-205; north on Tracy Blvd to SR-4.

Caltrans will utilize flaggers, as well as overhead and portable changeable message signs, alerting motorists of the detour and potential delays which are expected to be approximately 30 minutes.

One-way traffic control will also be required at the SR-4 Old River Bridge beginning Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22, from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 27, through Friday, March 29, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m.

This project is required to upgrade existing mechanical and electrical components and to implement structural repairs to increase the reliability and serviceability of this 100-year-old swing span bridge.

Work will include repairing or replacing equipment that operates the movable portion of the bridge, replacing the electrical power supply to the bridge by installing a new cable in the river bottom, and adding a new control board and associated equipment to the control house above the traveled way of SR-4 on the bridge structure.

State Route 4 - Ramp & Lane Closures
One-Way Traffic Control At Old River Bridge

San Joaquin County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various lane and ramp closures on State Route 4/Crosstown Freeway (SR-4) for maintenance and construction operations. Work will occur as follows;

  • One-way traffic control on SR-4 at the Old River Bridge (just East of Discovery Bay) for utility work beginning Monday, March 25, through Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control is expected to continue Mondays through Fridays, from 7:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. through March 2024

Interstate 5 - Lane Closures
Overnight Lane Closures For Stockton Channel Viaduct Bridge Work

San Joaquin County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various full ramp and lane closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) for maintenance and construction work within San Joaquin County. Work will occur as follows;

  • Overnight closures of the #1 (left) and #2 (left-middle) lanes on northbound I-5 at Stockton Channel Viaduct for bridge work beginning Sunday, March 24, through Friday, March 29, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  • Overnight closures of Weber Avenue (local street) under the I-5 Stockton Channel Viaduct for bridge work beginning Sunday, March 24, through Friday, March 29, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

State Route 12 - Lane Closures
Sweeping Operations From Mokelumne River To Interstate 5

San Joaquin County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various lane and ramp closures on State Route 12 (SR-12) for maintenance and construction operations. Work will occur as follows;

  • Moving closures on eastbound and westbound SR-12 from the Mokelumne River (San Joaquin/Sacramento County line) to Interstate 5 for sweeping operations on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

State Route 99 - Moving Closures
Sweeping Operations From Sr-120 To Woodbridge Road

San Joaquin County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on State Route 99 (SR-99) for maintenance and construction operations. Work will occur as follows:

  • Moving closures on southbound SR-99 from SR-4/Crosstown Freeway to SR-120/Yosemite Avenue for sweeping operations on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
  • Moving closures on northbound SR-99 from SR-4/Crosstown Freeway to Woodbridge Road for sweeping operations on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Interstate 205 - Lane Closures
From Alamenda/San Joaquin County Line To Maple Avenue

San Joaquin County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various lane and ramp closures on Interstate 205 (I-205) for maintenance and construction operations. Work will occur as follows;

  • Moving closures on westbound I-205 from Janney Road to Aqueduct Service Road for sweeping operations on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
  • Closure of the #3 (right) lane of eastbound I-205 from Paradise Road to Maple Avenue for bridge work on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
