Orchard Park Students Decorate Emergency Department Ceiling Tiles

Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute's emergency department treatment rooms got a bit of a makeover with help from students in Orchard Park. With 58 rooms to enhance, these ceiling tiles are a great opportunity for students to highlight their artistic abilities and hopefully put a smile on the faces of our patients during their time in our hospital.

The art teachers at Orchard Park Middle School helped lead the students in the school's art club to create these unique tiles. Over the course of four weeks, students worked together to make these tiles come to life and completed six large ceiling tiles for the emergency department. The school's "Kindness Club," which is dedicated to doing projects focused on kind acts for the school and community, also completed several square ceiling tiles to contribute to the project as well. Between the two clubs, over 40 students were involved in the creation of these beautiful tiles.

When asked about the impact of this project, many students said they "had fun working on the tiles and were happy to be doing something for others." Both the teachers and students hope their artwork will lift people's spirits and make them smile. These students have really taken pride in working on this project and they have also said it was fun to create artwork that would be displayed, and their hope is that it brings joy to others.

Thank you to the teachers and students at Orchard Park Middle School for enhancing our patient experience and leaving your mark on our hospital!
