PRESS RELEASE Gabon: Ambassador ABADIE presents her credentials to President OLIGUI NGUEMA

The relationship between European Union and Gabon has always been marked by real dynamism, open and constructive exchanges. Through the presentation of the Ambassador's credentials, the European Union demonstrates its will to remain a reliable and attentive partner in the current transition context, where many challenges must be overcome.

The ambitious sequence of initiatives and reforms as well as the timetable announced as part of the transition will be at the heart of the dialogue the European Union plans to have with Gabon. The Ambassador will remain attentive to the needs of all stakeholders, whether transitional institutions or civil society.

Attracting the investments necessary for Gabon's economic and social development is an integral part of cooperation between European Union and Gabon. In this regard, the Global Gateway strategy mobilises EU institutions, Member States, European financial institutions and the private sector to stimulate investments to strengthen Africa's strategic autonomy and global connectivity. Ambassador ABADIE wishes to promote the opportunities of this approach.

The multiannual cooperation framework between European Union and Gabon also offers tools and funding for targeted contributions in the areas of green transition, sustainable development and employment, and good governance.

The Ambassador also wishes to support the ambition displayed so far by Gabon in terms of forest protection and fight against climate change, areas in which it has emerged as a pioneer country.

The Ambassador assured the President of her commitment as well as the full mobilisation of the European Union Delegation team in order to strengthen the partnership between European Union and Gabon. END.
