The Illinois College record books had three new entries on Saturday, first and foremost among them a new school record from Hannah Marks in the 400 IM. The senior had a 15-second victory in the event with a time of 5:00.34. Joining her in the record books was Caitlyn Gallagher with a win of more than 13 seconds in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 12:17.35, the third-fastest time in school history. On the men's side, registered the fifth-fastest 200 Backstroke in school history with a 2:09.97, taking out a time that dated back to 1977.
The Illinois College men had three other victories in individual events. took home the 200 Freestyle (1:51.29), topped the 50 Freestyle (24.57) and won the 100 Freestyle (52.82).
On the women's side, there were four other event victories, including two 1-2 finishes. Marjori Russo was the only swimmer to break the minute-mark in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 59.18. In the 200 Breaststroke, Marks was a winner with a time of 2:36.10. Kate Edelstein won the 200 Freestyle in 2:10.75 with Russo right behind her in 2:12.20. In the 500 Freestyle, Nicole Homann clocked a time of 6:01.62 with Gallagher taking second in 6:04.98.
The Blueboys and Lady Blues will be off from competition for the next two weekends before returning to action for Grinnell College's Pioneer Invite on Dec. 6 and 7.
