Wolfbat Wearable Sculpture Workshop continues

Wolfbat wearable sculptures previously created in a previous project led by artist Dennis McNett.

There are still opportunities for members of the Alfred University campus community to create wearable sculptures which will be featured in this weekend's Hot Dog Day parade.

Artist Dennis McNett is hosting the Wolfbat Wearable Sculpture Workshop, which is offered through Friday, April 19. Participants will create 12-foot-tall puppets, which they can wear as they walk in the Hot Dog Day parade on Saturday, April 20. The parade begins at noon and will proceed down Main Street in Alfred.

The workshop, sponsored by the Integrated Electronic Arts in the School of Art and Design, is come-as-you-go and is offered from 12-8 p.m. each day. There are no fees; all supplies will be provided. For people unable to participate in the workshop, there will be a limited number of sculptures available for people to wear in the parade. Those interested in participating in the workshop or assisting with the puppets on the day of the parade are asked to email [email protected].

McNett is also creating a Viking ship that will be part of the Wolfbat procession during the parade. The ship, being constructed under the McGee Pavilion in front of Harder Hall, is adorned with prints McNett created during his residency in the School of Art and Design.
