The event, co-produced by Kensington and Chelsea's Youth Council and Young K&C Ambassadors, recognised the exceptional achievements of young people aged 11-19 (or up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities) who live, work, or study within the borough.
The evening was a vibrant celebration of youth excellence with 180 guests coming together in the Great Hall. The night began with a captivating performance from young local vocal talent Elena Agoz, before the ceremony got into full swing with 10 awards presented to local young people. The celebratory vibes continued with food, drinks, networking opportunities for attendees and an outstanding closing performance from Skye Bishop.
In attendance were the Lead Members for Communities and Children, the Chief Executive of Kensington and Chelsea Council, the Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea, the Youth Mayor, the Member of Youth Parliament for Kensington and Chelsea and leaders from across the local youth workforce, as well as parents, teachers, nominees and their supporters.
A panel of young judges from the Youth Council and Young K&C's Youth Ambassadors carefully reviewed all 184 applications, ensuring that the voices of young people were at the heart of recognising these achievements. Winners received trophies acknowledging their hard work and dedication to their communities.
The Council is committed to fostering the next generation of leaders and change-makers, and recognises the immense potential and contributions of its young residents. We actively seek to create an environment where they feel seen, heard, and valued. By investing in youth development programmes, initiatives like the Young Leaders Awards, and providing platforms for youth participation, the Council aims to empower young people to reach their full potential and become active, engaged members of their community.
Abdi Aden from Earls Court Youth Club Centre extended heartfelt gratitude on behalf of his members and staff for the exceptional coordination of the event. Abdi said: "Everyone from Earls Court Youth Club thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The effort and attention to detail that went into organising the event was excellent."
Nicole Belfon from Venture Community Association said: "What a remarkable celebration of the young people's accomplishments in Kensington and Chelsea. I look forward to supporting future initiatives."
