Friday, Dec. 1:
12 p.m.:
Police Body Cam Footage Released

In the continued spirit of transparency, the City of Raleigh and Police Chief Estella Patterson petitioned the Superior Court to release video that captured interactions of Raleigh Police Department officers on October 13. After reviewing this request, the presiding judge authorized the release of the video.

The City of Raleigh is providing a copy of the five-day report regarding the officer-involved shooting on October 13.

Monday, Oct. 17:
10:30 a.m.:

The Neuse River greenway trail between Buffaloe Road and Anderson Point Park has re-opened.

Friday, Oct. 14:
12 p.m.:

The Neuse River greenway trail will be closed between Buffaloe Road and Anderson Point Park until further notice to support the ongoing investigation.

9:30 a.m.:

Chief Patterson has released the names of the victims involved in yesterday's mass shooting:

Deceased:

  • Nicole Connors, B/F, 52
  • Susan Karnatz, W/F, 49
  • Mary Marshall, W/F, 35
  • RPD Officer Gabriel Torres, H/M, 29 and
  • 16-year-old white male

Injured:

  • Marcille Gardner, B/F, 59
  • RPD Officer Casey Clark, W/M, 33

The mass shooting investigation is ongoing. As is customary, the Raleigh Police Department will provide a Five-day Report once they have more details.

7:30 a.m.:

A press conference regarding last evening's mass shooting will be held around 8:30 a.m. this morning.

Police, city, and state officials will provide an update on the mass shooting Friday, October 14, at 8:30 a.m. at the Municipal Building, 222 West Hargett Street.

Background

  • On Thursday, Oct. 13, Raleigh-Wake Emergency Communications received a call around 5:13 p.m. regarding a person shot near the 6000 block of Osprey Cove Drive.
  • Five people died, including a Raleigh Police Officer.
  • Two people were injured, one a Raleigh Police Officer who has been released from the hospital.
  • A white, male juvenile suspect was arrested at 9:37 p.m.
  • Multiple agencies assisted Raleigh Police in investigating the incident and apprehending the suspect.

The suspect has been taken into custody. Additional information will be released at the appropriate time.

A press conference regarding the ongoing active shooter situation was held shortly after 8:30 p.m. this evening at the Raleigh Municipal Building located at 222 W. Hargett Street.

Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin, City Manager Marchell Adams-David, and Raleigh Police Department Lieutenant Jason Borneo were present.
