Premier Eby Visits Terrace for Resource Benefits Alliance Announcement

Premier David Eby visited Terrace on Friday, March 15, along with Municipal Affairs Minister Anne Kang to announce funding for the Northwest BC Resource Benefits Alliance totalling $250 million over five years. This funding was previously listed in the provincial government's 2024 budget, announced on February 22.

In a provincial news release, Premier Eby said:

By working together, we are ensuring people in northwest B.C. have the services and infrastructure they count on like roads, hospitals, water and housing. We are also making sure these communities can benefit from resource development in their region, and the pressures it brings. Everyone in B.C. deserves stability in their jobs and their communities today, tomorrow and for years to come."

More information on how the funds will be allocated will be provided as soon as it is available.

The Northwest BC Resource Benefits Alliance has been working tirelessly to develop an agreement with the provincial government for revenue sharing across local governments in the northwest, from Masset to Vanderhoof. Our rural and remote communities are relied upon to support an influx of new industry and workers, but we need to ensure more of the revenue generated from these activities remains in our region-and the Northwest BC RBA has been fighting for this since it was formed in 2014.
