Community Services Commission Meeting - Dog Park Updates

The Community Services Commission will be meeting August 23, 2023, at 5:30pm to discuss different projects throughout Kingsburg. One item on the agenda is the much-anticipated dog park. If you're interested in learning more, join us in the Council Chambers. The Council received an update on August 2, 2023 from Director Adam Castaneda about the ongoing project.

Currently in the design phase, the city is currently working with an architectural design firm to develop the design plans for the renovation. The design is undergoing revisions and is being reviewed by both the Community Services Commission and city staff to ensure that it aligns with the community's needs and expectations.

On April 19, 2023, council authorized the City Manager to execute the Kingsburg Dog Park Task Order in the amount of $108,500 with Peters Engineering Group for completion of the design phase of this project. Since then, several crucial initial tasks have been successfully completed to lay the groundwork for the renovation project.

The current timeline for the project is as follows:

July 2023 - December 2023 - Community Services Commission Review and Final Design of Project January 2024 - Project Bid Process and Award
February 2024 - Enter Construction Phase
June 30, 2024 - Project Completion, project open to the public, final payment request.
June 30, 2028 - End of grant performance period.

To ensure transparency and gather valuable feedback, the city plans to provide one additional update to the Community Services Commission and City Council in November. During this session, the final design details and plans for the park will be presented before the project documents are finalized and put out to bid.
