Warner & Kaine Announce Over $2 Million in Federal Funding to Upgrade Manassas Regional Airport Access Road

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) announced $2,458,000 in federal funding for the City of Manassas to upgrade the access road to Manassas Regional Airport/Harry P. Davis Field. The renovation of the access road to the airport, which will be completed in three parts, will improve efficiency and safety for travelers. It will also help the airport expand its capacity to accommodate commercial flights. The funding, awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration, will fund over half of the entire project.

"As the Manassas Airport begins running a small number of commercial flights, updating the access road to improve safety and efficiency is vital for travelers," said the senators. "We're eager to see this new chapter of the Manassas Regional Airport, which will make it easier for Virginians to get where they need to go and boost economic growth in the region."

With over 400 based aircrafts and 85,000 annual aircraft operations, Manassas Regional Airport is the largest and busiest General Aviation (GA) Airport in the Commonwealth. Last July, the Manassas City Council voted to approve commercial flights at the airport. Over 18 months, the airport will expand its terminal building by roughly 30,000-square feet and create capacity for as many as 30 commercial flights per day. Last September, Warner and Kaine announced over $3,000,000 in federal funding for the airport to help reconstruct its taxiway.
