Giro d’Italia. Stage 5. Cold and rainy day

Because of wet roads, the final circuit in Terracina was neutralized by time, so the stage did not produce any changes in the general classification and just the stage victory has been played in a sprint from a reduced group of sprinters, while all the GC favorites finished the race a bit later in safe.

- Cold day, at the descent at the first part of the race it was really cold and wet. But, later, after an effort on the flat part, we warmed up a bit. In the stage like today our main goal was to support our leader Miguel Angel Lopez and we did it in the best way we could, - said Dario Cataldo.

The stage has been decided in a massive sprint from a group, which decided to fight for a win after the time was neutralized. The German champion Pascal Ackermann won the sprint, followed by Fernando Gaviria and Arnaud Demare.

Stage 6 of the race will be held tomorrow: it will be a long distance of 238 km from Cassino to San Giovanni Rotondo.
