IITA and CGIAR launch agricultural research hub in Zambia

Lusaka, April 4 - The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) announced today that it has gained full diplomatic status as an international organization working in Zambia, according to the Zambian government. This is coming on the eve of the launch of the Institute's Southern Africa Research and Administrative Hub (SARAH) and food system research and delivery facilities in the country.

According to a statement issued in Lusaka, this timely development will strengthen partnership with the government and increase IITA-CGIAR's contribution to the research and agricultural transformation efforts in the country.

Speaking at the Zambia office in Lusaka, IITA Director General and CGIAR Regional Director for Continental Africa, Dr. Simeon Ehui said this marks a significant step forward in strengthening agricultural research and development efforts in Zambia and across the Southern Africa region and establishing sustainable food systems.
