DeFazio Announces $53.6M for Oregon Bridges from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Congressman Peter DeFazio (OR-04) today announced the first round of investments in repairing Oregon's bridges under the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which he helped make law. DeFazio helped deliver $53.6 million for Oregon to fix bridges this year in FY 2022, part of a total of $268.2 million over the next five years for bridge repairs.

"With over 44,000 bridges in poor condition around our country, including 395 in Oregon alone, today's announcement of $27.5 billion in long-overdue funding is great news for rural and urban communities alike," said Rep. DeFazio. "These investments will create good-paying jobs in Oregon, all 50 states, DC, and the territories. Bridges connect communities and are critical to everyday life-helping Americans get to work, visit family, or explore our great country. Thanks to President Biden and congressional Democrats, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is delivering for Oregonians and helping ensure they succeed in the 21st century economy."

The investment announced today is designed to help Oregon repair local bridges that are critical for getting to school and work, moving commerce, and connecting communities. The bipartisan infrastructure law also includes a separate program designed to support larger bridges through a competitive grant program. Details on that program will be announced at a later date.
