Brown Statement on The Rural Prosperity and Food Security Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) released the following statement on the newly introduced Farm Bill framework, known as the Rural Prosperity and Food Security Act, released by the Senate Agriculture Committee.

"I've always been clear: we need to put politics aside and pass a bipartisan farm bill that delivers for Ohio agriculture. Five years ago, Republicans and Democrats came together to overwhelmingly pass a farm bill - and we need to stop the delays and do the same this year. The framework released today by the Agriculture Committee is a constructive step forward in ensuring that we have a farm bill that addresses the key priorities that Ohio farmers have raised with me. I will continue to work with my colleagues in both parties to keep the politics out and pass a new farm bill that does right by the one-in-seven Ohioans who depend on agriculture for their livelihoods."

Brown is the first Ohioan to serve on the Senate Agriculture Committee in nearly 50 years. He has long been a leader for Ohio's rural communities.
