3D Track Inspection System on Trial Run on Shuozhou-Huanghua Railway

A 3D track inspection system was recently launched for trial operation on the Shuozhou-Huanghua Railway. While avoiding the risk of people trespassing on the track, it helps to improve work efficiency by 15 times, marking a shift from manual patrol to intelligent inspection on heavy-haul railways.

Based on line structured light and machine vision technology, the system uses 3D laser vision sensor to collect three-dimensional images and data of railway tracks and carries out processing and calculations with "data comparison + template matching + machine learning" intelligent detection algorithms to realize qualitative and quantitative identification of visible hazards on tracks and provide objective reference for track maintenance and repair. By replacing manual work, it significantly improves the detection speed and accuracy, increases the efficiency of track inspection, and raises the intelligent level of heavy-haul railroads.
