New Traffic Signal Improves Safety at Poole Road Intersection

Construction is complete for a new traffic signal at the intersection of Poole Road and Old Poole Road. The new signal is expected to greatly improve safety at this intersection, which saw 28 injury-causing crashes in five years before the signal was installed.

The Improvements include pedestrian signals and crosswalks, which give walkers a safe way to cross Poole Road. Residents will now be able to safely access bus stops, neighborhoods, and local businesses.

Raleigh's Vision Zero Team partnered with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to identify the need for this signal and deliver a solution. This project was funded through NCDOT's Spot Safety program and was designed and built by NCDOT.

The City of Raleigh's Vision Zero program is committed to making it safe to get around our city, whether you are on foot, by bus, or by car.

Stay tuned for more projects that aim to make our community safer!
