Against Gender Violence. A series of events at unibz

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Equal Opportunities Committee of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano is organizing a series of events. The programme includes artistic performances and short lectures by experts from various fields.

The inauguration of the event, which aims to sensitise the university community to the issue of gender violence, will take place on Thursday 23rd November at 4 pm in the area adjacent to the library entrance (1st floor, University Square, Bolzano). The Rector, Professor Paolo Lugli, and the President of the Equal Opportunities Committee, Professor Elisabeth Tauber, will present the initiative. The series of events will include lectures, theatre performances, exhibitions and video screenings.

The inaugural event will focus on a talk by researcher and lecturer Barbara Plagg on "The Power of Words". Plagg will analyze the role of language and its impact on the perception and representation of women. In addition, Jörg Oschmann's video installation "Sie würde nicht wollen, dass so über sie gesprochen wird. Gespräche mit Angehörigen der Opfer von Femiziden" (She Wouldn't Want to Be Talked About Like That: Conversations with relatives of victims of femicide) will be shown. At 16.45, the theatre performance "Entscheiden (=Decidi)" by teatroBlu will take place in the University Square. An exhibition by Giada Avi entitled "Conversations between feminists: on roses and thorns" will be open from 23 November to 4 December.

Subsequent events will include meetings, other exhibitions and conferences on gender violence and social activism.
