Annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour on Saturday, May 11

The City invites the Woodland community to join our Water-Wise Landscape Tour, a free event showcasing converted yards and offering valuable insights to make your landscape more water-wise. The 12th Annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour will explore unique, water-efficient yards throughout Woodland on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Start your day at City Hall (300 First St.) at 8 AM for a presentation on the importance of pollinators in water-wise gardens, hosted by the Yolo County Master Gardeners. At 8:30 AM, browse and purchase plants (cash and checks only) sold by Woodland High School and receive your copy of this year's free tour booklet to visit as many sites as you'd like by noon. This year's tour highlights seven homes that feature front yard conversions as well as some backyards.

The Water-Wise Landscape Tour features a curated selection of residential yards that showcase excellence in water-efficient landscaping. Attendees will discover landscapes designed to thrive in our local climate while significantly reducing water usage. With over half of household water usage dedicated to irrigation, yards are a key focus for water conservation efforts. This free tour presents an array of yards redesigned to minimize water usage and suit homeowners' lifestyles. Additionally, attendees will learn about key water-wise plants adaptable to any Woodland yard.

The Water-Wise Landscape Tour celebrates homeowners' efforts to embrace sustainable practices and provides valuable insights and practical tips for those interested in adopting similar approaches. Real-life examples offer the best inspiration, so join us to draw ideas for your yard and begin creating your own water-wise landscape.
