(COLUMBIA, MO)-

CORRECTION: The release has been updated to reflect the accurate spelling of Mr. Williamson's middle name.

Columbia Police arrested John Lonce Williamson III, 27, of Columbia, Dec. 9 in connection to a homicide that occurred Dec. 8. He was arrested for first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Dec. 8, officers responded to the 1500 block of Typhoon Court for a reported assault. Upon arrival officers found an adult female, later identified as Azairah Brownlee, 27, of Columbia, who had sustained apparent life-threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Department's Criminal Investigations Division quickly identified Mr. Williamson as a person of interest in the investigation.

Further investigation led to Mr. Williamson being identified as the suspect. He was later located and arrested with the assistance of patrol officers and CPD's Street Crimes Unit.
