Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 9720 Tuffly Street

April 15, 2024- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 9720 Tuffly Street about 9:40 p.m. on Saturday (April 13).

The suspect, Johnny Edward Brown, 49, is charged with murder in the 178th State District Court. Brown's booking photo is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 48, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Castillo and B. Stephens reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a home at the above address after Brown called 911 and stated he had shot his wife. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Officers arrested Brown at the scene. The Harris County District Attorney's Office was contacted and Brown was charged for his role in the shooting.
