Emerging talents visit the iconic Elizabeth Tower

This year's annual Apprenticeship Conference was a great success. We hosted the event at the Institution of Civil Engineers HQ in London on Tuesday 9thApril, giving those undertaking apprenticeships at Sir Robert McAlpine an opportunity to network with peers and senior leaders and to learn about our business strategy, its implementation, and how to get the most out of their apprenticeship.

Our new CEO, Neil Martin, gave a welcome address and shared his enthusiasm for attending his first Apprenticeship Conference at Sir Robert McAlpine.

The first workshop of the day was hosted by our Strategy and Work Winning team, who engaged our emerging talents with an interactive presentation.

After an enjoyable networking lunch, our Special Projects team presented a case study on the restoration of the iconic Elizabeth Tower. The presentation was followed by a walk outside to view the Elizabeth Tower, where Nick Sturge, Project Manager for Sir Robert McAlpine Special Projects, shared his experience of working on the nation's timekeeper.

The remainder of the afternoon was used for team breakout sessions. Led by project managers from across the business, our apprentices were given the opportunity to share their experiences and ask questions. During the closing presentation, Grant Findlay, Executive Managing Director, Buildings, shared highlights from his career journey and advice with the apprentices. The day ended with a networking reception.
