Update to Marion's Comprehensive Plan Underway; Open House Thursday

The City of Marion and RDG Planning and Design are seeking community input as they begin to update the City's Comprehensive Plan. The effort is called Marion 2045: A Plan to Reach New Heights.

The Comprehensive Plan is a tool that provides community leaders and decision-makers with a roadmap for growth based on the vision of community stakeholders. It considers the current needs and issues within the community and guides future improvements and developments for the next 15 to 20 years.

Open House
A community kick-off open house is planned for this Thursday, April 18, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center, 4500 N. 10th Street, Marion. There will be no formal presentation, but attendees will be asked to think about future land use, identify growth and enhancement areas and give input on key areas such as housing, parks and recreation, transportation and more.

Online Survey
Those unable to attend are invited to visit cityofmarion.org/CompPlan to take an online survey and share comments via the interactive map. The survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete.

The success of this initiative relies heavily on community input. Full development of the plan is expected to take 16 months.
