Quartararo snatches German GP Warm Up

The final track action before the 30-lap German GP for the MotoGP™ World Championship took place in overcast conditions on Sunday morning at the Sachsenring, with some riders opting to scrub in a wet set of tyres, with rain being a threat as the day evolves. It was an impressive session for Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), who left it late to charge inside the top ten, before then hitting the top slot with a couple of minutes to go. Pol Espargaro (Repsol Honda Team) was second ahead of fellow Honda rider Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu).

Fourth place was reigning World Champion Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar), who looked like he had found something in Warm Up, as did Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT). Starting down in 21st on the grid, Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) was sixth, ahead of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), whilst King of the Sachsenring Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team was eighth. Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) was ninth ahead of Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Gresini Team), who had a fast Turn 5 crash before returning to the circuit. Pole-sitter Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing) was only 16th, whilst fourth on the grid Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team) was 20th.

14:00 local time (GMT+2) and the MotoGP™ class will see their fight ignite at the Sachsenring!
