Displaying Success: Lindenwood Hosts Annual Student Academic Showcase

Lindenwood University's Student Academic Showcase, one of the final events of the 2023-24 academic year, was held in the Library & Academic Resources Center in April. During the event, students from all academic colleges put their creative flair and research on display - from original research to discussing exploratory projects - for their peers, faculty, and staff.

This celebration of learning allowed students to showcase how they have developed skills that will help them in the workforce.

"This year's Student Academic Showcase was the best day of the year on campus," Associate Professor of Writing and Student Academic Showcase Chairwoman Shana Youngdahl said.

The event included 26 oral presentations and 38 poster presentations. More than 30 faculty and staff volunteers served as judges and provided feedback to each presentation. Student submissions were recognized in the following categories:

Posters

• First Place Proposal Project: Brooklyn Bumbales, "The Changes in Oral Flora After Oral Hygiene"
• First Place Civic Engagement Project: Drew Barnes, Ryan Eckman, and Abi Waters: "Youth In Need Data Analysis"
• Second Place Civic Engagement Project: Aniah Moore, "BRIDGing Our Stories"
• First Place Original Research: Paige Sutton, "Effects of Sleep Duration and Quality on External Workload in Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Athletics"
• First Place Exploratory Project: Zachary Martin: "A Comparison of Japanese and American Tattoos"
• First Place Creative Project: Raya Kruger: "Hester Prynne: The Angel Pioneer of Sin & Punishment (a poetry collection inspired by The Scarlett Letter)"
