Spring hydrant flushing underway

The annual hydrant flushing program is currently underway in Hoffman Estates. This 6-week program runs weekdays between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. to ensure delivery of the best water quality in the Village by circulating fresh water through the system.Watch for signs posted in your neighborhood advising of the exact days.

Hydrants are flushed to circulate fresh water. Tap water may be discolored in your immediate area during flushing. When flushing occurs in your immediate area, remove faucet screens, and run water through the bathtub faucet for a few minutes to make sure it's clear before using. Also, be sure to check the water before washing clothes. Sediment in the water may stain clothing. Most municipal water systems perform annual hydrant flushing to ensure delivery of the best water quality.
