Chief of Defence Staff visits Kenyan National Defence College and Peace Support Training Centre

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva, presently on an official visit to Kenya at the invitation of Kenya's Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Francis Omondi Ogolla, visited the Kenyan National Defence College (NDC) on 26 March.

The CDS was warmly received by the NDC Commandant Major General R A Elmi on his arrival to the College. The CDS delivered a lecture on "The Role of the Military in Statecraft" to the participants of the Kenyan National Defence College, the CDS media report further said.

He also planted a sapling to mark his visit to the Kenyan NDC and left his compliments in the NDC Visitors' Book.

During this official tour, General Silva also visited the Kenyan International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC), the Office of the CDS reported.

Brigadier Joyce C Sitienei, the Director of IPSTC, welcomed the CDS on his arrival and briefed him about the IPSTC including its role, training programs geared towards peace support operations and research initiatives related to peace support operations.
