The accreditation is effective Feb., 2024 through Jan., 2029.

The Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) voted to award initial accreditation for the graduate education program in speech-language pathology at Gannon University's Ruskin campus for a period of 5 years beginning February 1, 2024, through January 1, 31, 2029.

The program, which received candidacy status in 2020, is designed for students to participate in a collaborative, experiential and integrative course of study and develop skills that prepare them for the highest standards of the scope of practice in speech-language pathology.

The Erie program received candidacy status in 2023.

"This full CAA accreditation for our program at Gannon University, Ruskin Florida, serves as ASHA's stamp of recognition of our educational excellence as an SLP graduate program," said Program Director Albert Villanueva-Reyes, Ed.D., M.Sc., CCC-SLP. "This is a public confirmation of our commitment to excellence and of our ongoing quality improvement, so that our students and the general public are assured that graduates from our program are prepared to meet the challenges they will face when entering the workforce, as stated by the CAA. We are extremely blessed and grateful."
