Driver Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash Monday Morning on I-40

The 81-year-old driver of a Mazda Miata has died following today's 6:30 a.m. single-vehicle crash on I-40 East near McCrory Lane. The preliminary investigation indicates the Miata, for unknown reasons, crossed into the center median before striking a digital message sign pole.

The driver died at the scene. Efforts are currently underway to notify his family.

There were no signs of impairment at the scene.
