City Joins Bloomberg Philanthropies' Youth Action Fund Call for Youth Climate Solutions

With 84 percent of youth around the world reporting that they are worried climate change threatens people and the planet, Mayor Keith A. James announced that West Palm Beach has joined Bloomberg Philanthropies' new Youth Climate Action Fund, which will provide technical assistance and funding for 100 mayors to activate tens of thousands of young people ages of 15 - 24 years to design, produce, and govern urgent climate solutions in cities across the globe. West Palm Beach joins the Fund alongside other cities from around the world, which together spans 38 countries across six continents, representing over 62 million residents.

Introducing the WPB Mayor
Education Partnership Grant

The City of West Palm Beach announces the launch of an innovative partnership grant called the WPB Mayor Education Partnership Grant. The WPB Mayor Education Partnership Grant aims to enhance educational outcomes for its students through local nonprofits.

Mayor Keith A. James and the WPB Education Advisory Committee have provided up to $4,000 in funding to interested elementary schools located within the City, enabling students to engage in enriching learning experiences in the fields of reading, math, science, and/or history in a practical, collaborative context with our local nonprofits. All West Palm Beach elementary schools have the opportunity to apply.

West Palm Beach Named a 2023 Tree City USA® by Arbor Day Foundation

The City of West Palm Beach proudly announces its recognition as a 2023 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, in honor of its dedication to effective urban forest management.

The prestigious Tree City USA designation is awarded to communities that demonstrate exemplary commitment to maintaining and enhancing their urban tree canopy. West Palm Beach achieved this recognition by meeting the program's rigorous requirements, including maintaining a tree board or department, implementing a tree care ordinance, allocating an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and hosting an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Housing Leadership Council of Palm Beach County Announces Second Housing Heroes Luncheon

The Housing Leadership Council of Palm Beach County announced that its 2nd Annual Housing Heroes Luncheon will take place on May 8, 2024, at the Kravis Center Cohen Pavilion at 701 Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach. The inaugural event drew more than 350 attendees.

This year, West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James will receive the organization's distinguished Housing Heroes Award. Since being elected Mayor in 2019, Mayor James has been working with city commissioners to create incentives for developers to build workforce/affordable housing for government employees like teachers and first responders. These efforts have led to the completion of the first new affordable downtown apartments in more than 30 years as well as securing several other projects currently under construction.
